Epic launches the Fortnite Summer Escape event that adds new items, quests, and even a limited-time location to the hit game, among other things.
Epic Games has launched the Fortnite Summer Escape event that introduces a wide variety of vacation-themed content to its hit battle royale game. The event started mere days after Fortnite V-Bucks prices went up in select regions.
Fortnite has a long track record of putting out events in celebration of the yearly seasons. Its last such summertime event arrived just under a year ago in the form of Fortnite’s No Sweat Summer update, which added a plethora of quests, cosmetics, and weapons to the free-to-play game.
Summer Escape is now looking to one up that update with the addition of an entirely new location called Sunswoon Lagoon. Much like the rest of the content added as part of the newly launched festivities, this tropical environment will only be accessible for the duration of the event, which ends on July 18, at 9 a.m. EST. Sunswoon Lagoon is located in the Wilds lush jungle biome introduced at the start of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 in June. More specifically, this tropical gulf can be found to the west of Creeky Compound in the central part of the Battle Royale island.
Fortnite Summer Escape Event Quests
- The Quench quests
- progressively become available July 4 – July 7
- reward XP and Nanners Wrap
- Lagoon Party quests
- progressively become available July 8 – July 11
- reward XP and Treezy Back Bling
- Make an Entrance quests
- progressively become available July 12 – July 16
- reward XP and Blossom Drop Contrail
Moreover, completing 14 of the newly introduced Summer Escape quests will reward players with the Wild Fronds Back Bling backpack, while four more will net them the Bugsy Glider. Finally, anyone who manages to complete 24 Summer Escape quests until July 18 will also receive a new Lagoon Escape loading screen and the Toasted Coconut emote. Another time-limited opportunity available for the duration of the event is the offer of an Artifact Axe Pickaxe which can be obtained by simply destroying 10 stones from July 11. Similarly, performing the mantle maneuver within 30 seconds of bursting through a door from July 12 will reward players with the Starry Sea Wrap skin for weapons and outfits.
Summer Escape also introduces a temporary replacement for the Flare Gun in the form of the flashier Firework Flare Gun. Some half a dozen summer-themed Fortnite consumables like Lil Whip’s Special Serve and Frozen IceCream Cone have also made their return as part of the event. Fortnite Crew subscribers will be rewarded with the Nanner Buddy Back Bling for logging into the game during Summer Escape, with the event also presenting a time-limited opportunity to obtain several new and returning outfits, including Chaos Explorer, Opal, and Purradise Meowscles.
This update presumably won’t be the last content drop that Fortnite will receive in the coming months. Back in April, one leaker shared an image of a new Fortnite summer vehicle that was neither mentioned nor shown as part of the Summer Escape announcement.
Fortnite is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
