A day-one indie game on Xbox Game Pass finally gets an important update that fixes an issue fans have had since its release on the service.

A game that was released as a day-one title on Xbox Game PassThe Bookwalker: Thief of Tales, finally got an important update that fixes an issue that had been exclusive to the game on the service. The Bookwalker is a narrative adventure where players take on the role of a writer-turned-thief known as Etienne Quist, who loses his ability to write after committing an unspeakable crime. From there, players are tasked with diving into the worlds of various books and stealing rare and legendary items from them. It was released on multiple platforms, with it also arriving on the Xbox Game Pass service at launch.

An Xbox Game Pass subscription grants its users access to a variety of video games published on the platform, with gamers being able to play them at no extra cost while they are a part of the service. Other benefits include Xbox Live Gold and exclusive member discounts, but the games are a big plus as to why people use the service. It’s not just limited to playing on Xbox consoles, as the service also is available for PC gamers. However, not every version of The Bookwalker is the same, as seen with an issue between the Steam version and the Xbox Game Pass PC version of the game.

A Steam forum post by user Friends with Benedicts pointed out an issue with the Xbox Game Pass version of the game, where the text of the game was misaligned and off-center. They had also looked into the issue with other users, where they noted the same issue was being reported. An edit to their post notes that Microsoft’s updates for its Xbox Game Pass PC versions are slower than Steam’s, with updates needing to be run by the publisher first, though asks fans to be easy on the developers. A recent patch to The Bookwalker‘s Xbox Game Pass version has fixed this issue.

A reply was posted on the original forum post by Oleg Sergeev, one of tinyBuild’s developers for The Bookwalker. He noted that the patch on the Xbox Game Pass version had gone live, where new language support, improved controls, along with enhanced audio and visuals have been added. He added that if gamers encounter further issues with the game, then they should contact the developers regarding any further issues or feedback about the game.

Friends with Benedicts noted the post had drawn some unwanted attention that inadvertently ended up causing some trouble for the developers, giving a small apology for opening it as a separate topic on the Steam Community forum. However, they also thanked Sergeev for his transparency regarding the issue and thanked gamers for being patient with the developers in getting The Bookwalker fixed on Xbox Game Pass.
