Fortnite: How To Get Kratos Skin

Games Gaming News Guides

Kratos unleashes his Spartan rage upon the Fortnite island, and here’s everything the iconic God of War character comes with.

Fortnite brings forth Chapter 5, Season 2 – Myths & Monsters, where the Gods of Olympus and other additions of the Greek Mythology rise up for conquest and power over the Fortnite island. There is one character in particular that the Olympians should fear, someone who has dealt with the gods before. That character is, Kratos from God of War. Whilst Kratos from God of War (2005) isn’t involved in the Chapter 5 Season 2 Battle Pass, it’s not over for the character just yet.

Many rumors have already begun spinning around the inclusion and return of Kratos from God of War (2018), and in addition, a new God of War x Fortnite collab appearance from his son, Atreus. Whilst nothing is confirmed as of day one for Fortnite: Myths & Monsters, reliable sources aren’t usually wrong, so players might be able to get their hands on Kratos in Fortnite after all this time.

How To Get Kratos

Kratos was released into the Fortnite Item Shop on December 4, 2020, as part of Chapter 2, Season 5 – Zero Point and this Bounty Hunting season brought about many iconic collabs, like The Mandalorian, The Predator, and even the heroic Master Chief. Kratos was another celebrated collab to join the Gaming Legends set, but he has not returned since March 19, 2021. It has been well over 1,000 days since Kratos was featured in the Item Shop, but not all hope is lost, and the 3rd year anniversary of Kratos’ last appearance is quickly approaching.

Recent and reliable rumors circulate among the circles of famed Fortnite leakers, and it looks as if Kratos is set to return to Fortnite, alongside Atreus, his son. There is already validity to these rumors, as Kratos’ skin was recently updated to have a grumpy facial expression. Whilst fans wait for Kratos in the Fortnite Item Shop, here’s a look at everything they can acquire for Kratos, and the V-Bucks that they will need.

Kratos Bundle

2,200 V-Bucks

Players can pick up the Kratos Bundle from the Item Shop, where they will spend 2,200 V-Bucks on 5 items, saving them 1,100 V-Bucks if they were to just purchase all of these cosmetics separately. These cosmetics include:

  • Kratos (Outfit)
  • Leviathan Axe (Pickaxe)
  • Freezing Burst (Emote)
  • Guardian Shield (Glider)
  • Mimir (Back Bling)

Players can still purchase all of these items separately if they only want a select number of cosmetics, like the famed Leviathan Axe in Fortnite.

Kratos (1,500 V-Bucks)

I am what the gods made me.

Kratos comes to Fortnite as part of the Oathbreaker set, and features in all his glory from his appearance in God of War (2018). The leather paldron, bandages around his wrist and forearm, and his gut wound from being stabbed in the stomach by the Blade of Olympus are all there, showcasing Epic Games’ attention to detail with these iconic collab characters. Whilst some may be disappointed that he doesn’t come with the original God of War (2005) appearance, there’s always hope.

Mimir (Comes with Kratos)

Wise and wizened.

If players purchase Kratos, then they will receive Mimir as a Back Bling. The iconic Smartest Man Alive, and closest confident and best friend to Kratos works wonderfully as a Back Bling, as he hangs from the back, looking around with his singular eye and reacts to his environment.

Armored Kratos Style (Free Extra Style For PS5 Owners)

If players own Kratos and complete a match of Fortnite on the PlayStation 5 console, they will unlock Armored Kratos as a bonus style. This appearance matches the Valkyrie armor that players can unlock in God of War (2018).

Leviathan Axe (1,000 V-Bucks)

Forged by Brok and Sindri.

One of the most popular pickaxes in Fortnite, the Leviathan Axe is a classic, back from when they used to be called Harvesting Tools. It looks great and feels like a fast-swinging and responsive choice to use. Sadly, it doesn’t stay on Kratos’ back like it does in the God of War games, and it will simply disappear back into their weapon loadout during gameplay when not currently equipped.

Freezing Burst (Comes with Leviathan Axe)

Unleash the frozen Leviathan.

Whilst nothing like Spartan Rage, the Freezing Burst is a passive emote that will see Kratos take the Leviathan Axe from his back sheathe and squeeze it tightly to let snow and ice form around the metal, only to shake it off in a calculated defiance, ready to attack. It’s a built-in emote that can only be used by players who are wielding the Leviathan Axe as their pickaxe.

Guardian Shield (800 V-Bucks)

A gift from Laufey the Just.

The Guardian Shield is Kratos’ retractable round shield that he can summon from his left gauntlet. Whilst in God of War, it can be used to parry and block enemy attacks, for Fortnite, it is just used as a Glider, and players will hold the bottom of the shield in the classic Glider position, rather than riding the top of it like a board.

This guide will be updated as soon as Kratos is confirmed to return to Fortnite, with specific times of his arrival. As of March 8, 2024, there have been no Item Shop updates to suggest Kratos is returning soon, but if the reliable leakers are to be believed, Kratos will return sometime during Chapter 5, Season 2.
