Bungie confirms the upcoming Destiny 2 Into the Light update, providing new details, a dedicated livestream event, as well as sharing its launch date.

Bungie finally reveals new details about the upcoming Into the Light update for Destiny 2 as well as confirming the launch date and a new patch. Originally intending to launch the final chapter of the Light and Darkness saga back in February, things hit a snag when Bungie ultimately delayed Destiny 2: The Final Shape expansion into June. The added gap in time meant the current Season of the Wish would go on for much longer than originally planned, leaving fans to wonder how the studio intended to fill the gap.
While Bungie did confirm the return of various seasonal events like Guardian Games and other game modes to help fill the time, one of the more intriguing elements was something called Destiny 2 Into The Light. While new details recently leaked for the Into the Light update, fans have been wondering what sort of content this could bring, with many convinced it would serve as some sort of lead-in to The Final Shape. As the launch date grows closer, Bungie is finally ready to share new details on Into the Light.
In its latest weekly blog post, Bungie revealed new details about Destiny 2 Into The Light, confirming the content will be launching alongside a major sandbox update and quality-of-life improvements. Into The Light has been designed as a free to play content update that will deliver new things to do throughout the months of April and May to help prepare players before The Final Shape expansion releases in June.
When Does Destiny 2: Into the Light Begin?
- April 9, 2024
Unfortunately, the blog is fairly light on details, though Bungie has confirmed that it will be holding three separate livestreams in the coming weeks to showcase the new details of Destiny 2 Into the Light. Each stream will showcase different aspects of the update, with developers on hand to share even more details during the preview. The first takes place on March 19 at 10am PT, with the second following on March 26, and the final livestream broadcasting on April 2, a week before Into the Light and Update 7.3.6 arrive. Better yet, fans who tune in will earn Twitch Drops by watching for at least 30 minutes across any of the three livestreams will earn the Those Held Dear emblem, while two hours will unlock the Echo Diamond emblem.
While fans will likely be disappointed to not get a few more details from the blog, a recent Destiny 2 Into the Light leak may have spoiled at least some of the surprise. While nothing yet has been confirmed, rumors indicate that Into the Light missions will take players back through old locations like Io, that have since been placed in the vault. Each week will see a new planet become available and popular weapons like the Recluse SMG and Hammerhead Machine Gun would join a number of other classic guns being reintroduced with new perks. Either way, fans don’t have too much longer to see what Into the Light is actually all about.
