2023’s Lords of the Fallen has been added to May 2024’s Xbox Game Pass subscription.

Microsoft has announced the second wave of titles for Xbox Game Pass in May 2024, and it includes an often overlooked Soulslike title from 2023. May is shaping up to be an impressive month for Game Pass subscribers, with the inclusion of acclaimed titles such as Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition or Moving Out 2 alongside completely new releases like Little Kitty, Big City, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, and Galacticare, which join the service upon their launch.
As revealed in a post on Xbox Wire, 2023’s Soulslike action RPG, Lords of the Fallen, will be joining Game Pass on May 30. In a year that was as great for gaming as 2023 was, many would be forgiven for overlooking Lords of the Fallen upon its launch in October, as it was competing with other high-profile releases such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Alan Wake 2, which launched that same month, Cyberpunk 2077‘s Phantom Liberty expansion and Starfield, which launched in September, and the Game of the Year winner Baldur’s Gate 3, which was released in August. Fortunately, despite a rocky launch, Lords of the Fallen surpassed 1.2 million units worldwide by the end of November 2023 (via WCCF Tech).
Lords Of The Fallen Serves As A Starting Point For Newcomers To The Series
With Plenty For Fans Of The Original To Enjoy

Lords of the Fallen (2023) served as both a sequel and a soft reboot to the 2014 game of the same name and acknowledged the canon ending to its predecessor while being accessible to newcomers. A huge reason for this is that narratively Lords of the Fallen (2023) takes place 1000 years after Lords of the Fallen (2014) and how the previous game’s protagonist, Harkyn’s actions – which have become legends – have taken a toll on the world in that time as it has transformed from high fantasy to more of a grimdark fantasy setting.
Much like its predecessor, Lords of the Fallen (2023)’s gameplay draws heavily from FromSoftware‘s Soulsbourne games, with challenging combat that can be rewarding once mastered. It also adds some fun new puzzle-based mechanics unique to its story and world that help to set it apart, making it both accessible for those who have yet to pick up a Soulslike title, while also familiar for long-running fans of the genre.
For those who may have overlooked Lords of the Fallen upon its launch or are just looking for a new Soulslike title, the title is certainly worth picking up when it comes to Xbox Game Pass on May 30. For those who aren’t a fan of Soulslikes, however, several genres are represented this month, with titles such as the puzzler Humanity coming to the subscription the same day, accommodating various types of gamers.
