Fortnite Is Adding A New OG Mode With A Remixed Chapter 1 Map

Games Gaming News Video

Epic has revealed a new game mode for Fortnite called Reload that is giving heavy OG vibes.

Fortnite is adding a new OG-esque mode called Reload that takes place on a remixed version of the Chapter 1 map that goes live later today and seems to be a permanent fixture.

Although this season of Fortnite (Chapter 5, Season 3) started off pretty strongly, it’s quickly become one of the game’s more controversial entries due to its singular focus on vehicle combat instead of traditional shooting. If you’re one of the people who’s been calling for a more traditional experience to get away from being run over all the time, then Epic Games has some good news for you.

Yesterday, Epic teased that a brand new mode was going to be added to Fortnite soon called Reload. The details were scarce at the time, but it appeared to be an OG-esque experience that took place on a remixed version of the Chapter 1 map. Following some Twitter teases, Epic has fully unveiled Reload on its website ahead of the mode’s introduction later today.

Fortnite Reload Is A New Mode With “Classic Vibes”

Over on the official Fortnite website, Reload is described as a “new action-packed Battle Royale mode with classic weapons, classic locations, and classic vibes”, although there’s a gameplay twist to make it unique. Squad members reboot in this 40-player mode as long as there’s one player standing, so it’s a little bit like a unique Team Deathmatch.

Although Epic says that Reload is a “new mode” on a “new map”, eagle-eyed fans will notice that it’s actually a remixed map that features Points of Interest from the classic Fortnite days. Some of the POIs include Tilted Towers, Retail Row, Sandy Sheet, and Pleasant Park, so it’s clearly trying to bank on the Fortnite nostalgia.

Speaking of Fortnite nostalgia, there are a ton of classic weapons that have been confirmed to return in Reload, such as the Revolver, Tactical Shotgun, OG Heavy Shotgun, Infantry Rifle, Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle, Rocket Launcher, and a ton more. Once again, it’s obvious who Fortnite Reload is aiming to appeal to.

Epic has previously confirmed that it wanted to bring back Fortnite OG in some way during 2024, which Reload does seem to be doing in some capacity. It’s currently not clear if this is going to be our OG equivalent of the year or if this mode is going to be limited time or a permanent fixture, but it should still be a nice break from everything going on with Wrecked.
