Mortal Kombat 1 DLC leaks reveal a new story expansion with 5 chapters starring Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot.

As the San Diego Comic Convention is kicking off in a few days, various details regarding the first story expansion for Mortal Kombat 1 leaked online, including a trailer that would supposedly go live during the event. While the information from these leaks remains unverified, they provide details about the content of the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 DLC ahead of its official announcement.
Mortal Kombat 1 is the sequel to 2019’s Mortal Kombat 11 and takes place after Liu Kang’s ending in the Aftermath expansion, where he created a new timeline using Kronika’s Hourglass. However, this new timeline doesn’t stop Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, and their allies from threatening Earthrealm and its warriors, just as in previous Mortal Kombat games. While developer NetherRealm Studios has not yet confirmed DLC to continue the story after the ending of Mortal Kombat 1, players are expecting an expansion to continue the adventures of Liu Kang and his allies, just as the Aftermath DLC provided new story content for Mortal Kombat 11.
A Mortal Kombat 1 insider, who previously accurately shared information about layoffs affecting NetherRealm’s mobile developers before the news was officially announced, leaked various details regarding the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 expansion. According to the leaks, the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 DLC would feature a dedicated story with 5 chapters starring Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot. The story mode of this Mortal Kombat 1 expansion will bring 3 additional stages, but no dedicated fatalities. The supposed release date of the first Mortal Kombat 1 DLC story is next September, with a first trailer for this expansion revealed during the San Diego Comic Convention next week.
Tag Team May Never Reach Mortal Kombat 1
Moreover, the leaks suggest that certain game modes will not be available with the release of this upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 DLC. Some of these modes might be canceled altogether, making fans worry that the highly anticipated tag team mode from previous Mortal Kombat games may never reach the latest installment in the series. On top of these story updates and supposedly scrapped game modes, insiders claim that Mileena would reportedly “turn into something else,” without further details being leaked.
Besides this upcoming story expansion, players are eagerly waiting for Takeda Takahashi and Mortal Kombat 1‘s final Kameo character Ferra to join the game’s roster. Both characters will be added on July 23, marking the end of Mortal Kombat 1‘s first Kombat Pass.
