Co-Op Soulslike is a Huge Hit on PS Plus Extra

Remnant 2 is the third-biggest PS Plus Extra game of 2024, gaining new popularity in July thanks to inclusion in the library.

Co-op Soulslike RPG Remnant 2 is currently the third-biggest PS Plus Extra game of 2024. Despite launching in July 2023, Remnant 2 has discovered a newfound audience thanks to its inclusion in the July 2024 PS Extra Plus library, becoming the most popular title in the lineup for the month.

Developed by Gunfire Games, Remnant 2 is a sequel to the successful co-op RPG Remnant: From the Ashes, a title that brought a unique spin to the Soulslike formula by supplying players with firearms and placing heavy emphasis on playing co-op with friends. Players can choose from various classes (called archetypes) as they battle through dynamically generated dungeons against god-like beings that wish to destroy reality itself. Remnant 2 is often held in high regard within the Soulslike community, offering players a unique take on the genre whilst giving them an enriching co-op experience, and with frequent DLCs to keep the game active, there’s never a shortage of content to keep players engaged.

As reported by TrueTrophies, Remnant 2 is currently the most popular game of the 2024 PS Plus Extra July games. It accrued a player base 69.05% bigger than Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, the second-biggest title for the month. This massive surge of players has made Remnant 2 the third-biggest PS Plus Extra game to debut in 2024, putting it ahead of titles such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and Monster Hunter Rise.

This number is even more impressive when considering that there is not a PlayStation 4 version of Remnant 2, setting it apart from the two games that outperformed it and making it the biggest PlayStation 5 exclusive debut on PS Extra Plus for 2024. Remnant 2 is still being actively worked on by Gunfire Games, with major DLC having been released with The Forgotten Kingdom earlier this year and The Awakened King in late 2023.

These expansions have both expanded on the base story, bringing with them new storylines, dungeons, bosses, and archetypes. Remnant 2 features a DLC bundle consisting of three story DLC packs, the third of which has recently been revealed. With a swarm of new fans discovering Remnant 2 for the first time, The Dark Horizon DLC has landed itself in a perfect nesting ground to entice fans to stay with the game, should they find themselves wanting more of what Remnant 2 has to offer.

With the recent surge of players thanks to PS Plus Extra, now is the perfect time to grab some friends and battle through Lovecraftian horrors in Remnant 2.
