Elden Ring offers 311 weapons to choose from, with 22 varieties of straight swords for players to pick.

Elden Ring is really hard regardless of what playstyle and build you’re trying to perfect. However, despite its difficulty, it does offer you a lot of customization options, and there are plenty of weapons for you to play around with.
You won’t be able to wield all of them given their specific stat requirements but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be aware of your options. Or at the very least, you might just be curious how many options you really have, whether you’re knee-deep in your playthrough or you’re just starting for the first time and are as maidenless as they come.
Elden Ring Has 311 Weapons In The Base Game

You probably won’t see most of these unless you’re actively hunting for them or trying to utilize them, but Elden Ring’s base game has a staggering 311 weapons to pick from. Not all of them are good and it’s highly unlikely that you’ll be using the same weapon from the beginning of the game at the end (unless you’re attempting some kind of exceedingly painful challenge).
There are 30 different types of weapons that you can play around with from your standard straight swords and axes to colossal swords and colossal axes, and plenty of ranged weapons to boot. Of all 311 of those weapons, a measly 55 of them are actually ranged. Guess you better get good and dodging and weaving.
Straight Swords For Everyone
Although there are a lot of categories that have 15 or more weapons, only the Straight Swords can claim to have the highest number of weaponry in its ranks. If you main the Straight Sword in your playthrough, congratulations, because you have 22 different types of Straight Swords that you get to pick from.
Not Enough Ballistas To Go Around
Although there are several weapons that are only four in number, like the Heavy Thrusting Swords, Claws, and Great Bows, only one weapon type can claim to be the fewest in number: The Ballistas. In total, there are only two Ballistas that you can get your hands on in Elden Ring, the Hand Ballista and the Jar Cannon.
Plenty Of Shields To Defend
In total, there are 78 shield items that you can get your hands on, but it’s iffy on whether or not you’ll be able to actually use them. Six of those 78 are actually torches, so you’re probably not going to be able to defend yourself very well if that’s all you can utilize.
However, there are 20 Small Shields, 27 Medium Shields, and 25 Great Shields so you will, more than likely, be fine. Keep remembering to dodge and weave though – your shield can only take so much damage for you.
Shadow Of The Erdtree Has 103 Weapons

If there aren’t enough weapons in the base game for you, you can find the extra 103 weapons in Shadow of the Erdtree, Elden Ring’s DLC. This raises the total count to 414 weapons scattered throughout The Lands Between.
On top of the additional weapons, Shadow of the Erdtree also adds eight new types of armaments, which raises the total number of different weapon types to 40. The new weapon types are as follows:
- Beast Claws
- Hand-to-Hand Arts
- Throwing Blades
- Backhand Blades
- Perfume Bottles
- Light Greatswords
- Great Katanas
- Thrusting Shields
There Is Only One Throwing Blade
Out of all the new categories of weapons, throwing blades have the lowest number with only one in their ranks. The Smithscript Dagger is the only throwing blade you can get your hands on in the entirety of the Lands Between – DLC and Base game included.
If you want to get your hands on the Smithscript Dagger, you will need to head to the Ruined Forge Lava Intake, where this dagger is hidden on a corpse just beyond and to the left of the Fire Blob. You know you’re in the right area if there is a golem hanging around the corpse.
Five Perfume Bottles To Toss
Despite the DLC adding so many new weapons and a substantial increase in the category of weapons, it has only added five perfume bottles. Given that the other new categories only have one or two items at most, the Perfume Bottle weapon type is the newest category with the most weapons.
- Firespark Perfume Bottle
- Chilling Perfume Bottle
- Frenzyflame Perfume Bottle
- Lightning Perfume Bottle
- Deadly Poison Perfume Bottle
