Hype surrounding Bloober Team’s upcoming Silent Hill 2 Remake is at an all-time high after a week of previews and gameplay.

Over the last week, the discourse surrounding Bloober Team’s upcoming Silent Hill 2 Remake has gone from “No, thanks” to “Yes, please!” That’s because previews of the upcoming horror title are out ahead of its official October 8 release, and they are nothing short of positive.
As our Jade King wrote in their preview, “It has been given an impossible task, and from a few hours with the finished product, it looks to be living up to it in ways I never could have anticipated.”
With its release date rapidly approaching, more and more information is circulating, and one that fans will certainly be intrigued by is the game’s reported length. According to HowLongToBeat, the original Silent Hill 2 is roughly eight hours long for its main story, with completionists being able to stretch its length to a touch over 15 hours.
Silent Hill 2 Remake will be longer than that, according to creative director Mateusz Lenart. More so, there will be a new-game plus mode, as well as all the original endings.
Buckle Up, Silent Hill 2 Remake Will Be A Lengthy Ride
Taking to Twitter, Lenart revealed that an initial playthrough of Silent Hill 2 Remake will run players between 16–18 hours on average.
In a separate response, he noted it could take players up to 20 hours, and possibly more, if they attempt to do everything in a playthrough. According to Lenart, that figure doesn’t count new-game plus or the various endings, either. That means at launch, Silent Hill 2 Remake will run double the length of its predecessor, which is an interesting bit of information.
Speaking of its predecessor, all classic endings have been confirmed. And as Jade noted in the preview, new endings are also confirmed. In other words, this game will definitely boast a load of replayability.
Like we said at the top, the reception towards this game has done a complete 180-degree turn from negative to positive. Only time will tell if Bloober sticks the landing, but the team sure is doing things right ahead of launch. October can’t come soon enough.
