A Metacritic page has been created for Resident Evil 9.

A page for Resident Evil 9 has appeared on review aggregation site Metacritic, leading fans to believe that a trailer could be on the way.
Now, a page appearing on Metacritic isn’t necessarily indicative of that game actually existing. After all, there’s been a Half-Life 3 page on Metacritic for years and Valve hasn’t spilled the beans on that just yet (thanks, PCGN). That being said, Metacritic pages don’t pop up out of nowhere either. There’s a reason why they’ve been generated, but that isn’t always necessarily because the developer, which would be Capcom in this case, has registered the game. Only Metacritic knows exactly why this page exists, but there was a correlation between the publishing of a Grand Theft Auto 6 page and Rockstar’s subsequent announcement.
The Next Resident Evil

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard director Koshi Nakanishi previously confirmed that there’s a new Resident Evil in development, and he’ll be directing it: “We’re making a new Resident Evil. It was really difficult to figure out what to do after 7. But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can’t share any details, but I hope you’re excited for the day I can,” Nakanishi said earlier this year.
Resident Evil Village and its expansion Shadows of Rose expanded upon the stories of Ethan and Rose Winters, but Shadows of Rose wrapped their stories up in a neat bow, barring an interesting cliffhanger, so Capcom isn’t obliged to return to these characters. It’s unknown if Resident Evil 9 will continue the current arc of Rose Winters, or feature a different protagonist. The character Chris Redfield has been Resident Evil’s leading man numerous times and featured prominently in Resident Evil Village as a supporting character.
As people have surmised, The Game Awards would be the natural choice for a Resident Evil 9 announcement. However, Capcom has a high-profile release in Monster Hunter Wilds scheduled for early next year, which means if Resident Evil 9 is announced we shouldn’t expect to see it until late 2025 at the earliest.
