Despite some pretty big misses over the last few years, the Star Wars franchise still has a plethora of projects currently in the works. Andor Season 2 is set to hit Disney+ in April 2025, with Star Wars: Visions Season 3 following it later in the year. Ahsoka Season 2 is in development, along with a Mandalorian and Grogu movie and a Rey-centered sequel.
The world of Star Wars video games is almost equally busy. While there are no new Star Wars games currently slated for release in 2025, there’s a really good chance fans will get to see a trailer for one or two in-development Star Wars video game projects.
What Star Wars Games Fans Can Expect to See in 2025
Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Is Getting a Modern Port in January
For the last few years, developer Aspyr has been releasing a range of Star Wars video game ports for modern platforms, often to mixed results. While it’s great to have games like Star Wars: Republic Commando and the classic Star Wars: Battlefront titles on modern consoles, they’ve come with their fair share of technical issues.
Regardless, Aspyr is getting ready to release another Star Wars port in early 2025, this time being the often overlooked Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles. A fairly simple beat-em-up with notoriously finicky platforming, Jedi Power Battles is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, and PC on January 23, 2025.
Star Wars: Hunters is Getting a PC Port in January
Released for mobile and Nintendo Switch back in June, Star Wars: Hunters is a free-to-play hero shooter that focuses on free-for-all arena gameplay. Star Wars: Hunters received a bit of a mixed reception at launch, but it could see a resurgence early next year, with the game heading to Steam Early Access on January 27.
Star Wars Eclipse Could Get a New Trailer in 2025
Announced all the way back in December 2021 during The Game Awards, Quantic Dream’s Star Wars: Eclipse is still nowhere to be seen. While Lisa Pendse, Vice President of Marketing for Quantic Dream, confirmed in a September 2023 interview with IGN that Star Wars: Eclipse is “simmering” in development, no official word has come since. It’s unclear just how far along in development Star Wars: Eclipse is, but there’s a chance fans could see a new trailer in 2025.
Bit Reactor’s Star Wars Strategy Game Could Be Revealed in 2025
Announced in 2022 alongside a Respawn Entertainment first-person shooter that was canceled earlier this year, Bit Reactor is developing a Star Wars strategy game. Though Bit Reactor is a new studio, it’s filled with industry veterans, including multiple ex-XCOM and Civilization developers. When Respawn’s Star Wars FPS was canceled back in March, it was quick to confirm that Bit Reactor’s strategy game (which Respawn is producing) is still in the works.
There’s a decent possibility fans might get to see Bit Reactor’s Star Wars strategy game officially revealed next year.
The Final Chapter of The Star Wars Jedi Series Could Be Revealed
Though its Star Wars FPS is gone, Respawn is still working on a Star Wars project. In September, during an Investor Day Presentation, EA confirmed that Respawn is currently developing the “final chapter” in the Star Wars Jedi series. With Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launching only last year, it’ll probably be a while before fans see its proper reveal, though a little tease of its title or something similar isn’t out of the realm of possibility for next year.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Could Come Out of Hiding in 2025
One of the most openly tumultuous video game developments in recent years, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake was announced during the September 2021 PlayStation Showcase, where Aspyr was attached as the game’s developer. A few months after the announcement, rumors started to pop up suggesting the remake was in trouble.
In July 2022, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier published a report claiming that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake had been delayed indefinitely following a vertical slice presentation, and the firing of the game’s design director and art director. It was eventually rumored that Saber Interactive had taken over development of KOTOR remake, and in April 2024, Saber’s CEO, Matthew Karch, confirmed that the remake was “alive and well.”
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake’s development progress is very unclear at the current moment. But 2025 could be the year KOTOR remake rears its head once more, though that doesn’t seem too likely at this point.
Fans Could Get an Update on Skydance’s Star Wars Game
Announced in April 2022, Skydance New Media has a Star Wars game in development, with Amy Hennig getting another shot at the franchise after the canceled Project Ragtag. No new information has come to light surrounding Skydance’s Star Wars game since its 2022 announcement, and with Skydance getting ready to release Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra next year, it seems a little unlikely that fans will see anything about this Star Wars game anytime soon.
