MultiVersus will go offline on May 30, 2025.

After months of speculation about its future, MultiVersus is set to go offline on May 30, 2025, at the end of its next season. Officially launched on May 28, 2024, MultiVersus is a free-to-play online fighting game featuring popular characters from various Warner Bros. franchises, including DC, Looney Tunes, and many more.
Live-service games have recently proven to be risky business, with multiple big-budget triple-A titles such as XDefiant failing to survive the challenging landscape. Unfortunately for publisher Warner Bros. Games, MultiVersus is set to be the latest addition to this list, with the developers ending support for the game just a year after its full release. Despite witnessing strong engagement at the time of its early access launch in July 2022 and then again around the time of its official launch last May, the multiplayer title developed by Player First Games struggled to maintain notable player interest over the long term. As a consequence, MultiVersus ended up costing Warners Bros upwards of $100 million by late 2024. However, it has now been revealed that the devs have decided to pull the plug on the ill-fated online game.
As announced on its website, MultiVersus will lose online server support after the forthcoming Season 5 wraps up on May 30, 2025, at 9 AM PST / 12 PM EST. Additionally, it will also be delisted from digital stores across consoles and PC. The update from Warner Bros. Games calls the decision to shut down the fighting game as one taken after “careful consideration.” Beginning on January 31, players will be unable to make in-game purchases using real-world money. However, they can still use their remaining Gleamium balance or character tokens to unlock MultiVersus content until the end of Season 5.
MultiVersus Online Support Will End on May 30, but Offline Matches Will Still Be Playable
The latest notice from Warner Bros. Games has revealed that MultiVersus will still be available to play in offline mode after May 30, bringing some relief to fans. In other words, players will be able to play as their favorite Warner Bros characters in single-player matches against AI or take on co-op bouts with up to three friends. To play MultiVersus offline, it is compulsory to download the latest version of the game and log in once during Season 5, which starts on February 4 at 9 AM PST / 12 PM EST.
With the sun finally setting on MultiVersus, fans now wait for the final hurrah with the forthcoming Season 5 update that drops next week. Featuring Aquaman and Lola Bunny as the first-tier reward for Battle Pass owners and the daily calendar login reward, respectively, the new season will have each item unlockable through gameplay. Given the finality of the next update, now may be a good time to snag MultiVersus to play offline in the future.
