The next Nintendo Direct will take place on March 27 at 7am PT.

Nintendo has officially announced that the next Nintendo Direct event will take place on Thursday, March 27 at 7am PT. Back in January, Nintendo announced a special Switch 2 Nintendo Direct presentation to take place on Wednesday, April 2. Many fans assumed that it would be the next Nintendo Direct and that there would be nothing in the meantime.

However, rumblings started last month that Nintendo was actually planning to host a Direct before the Switch 2 event. According to the rumors, said Direct would focus on the upcoming games for the original Switch that are releasing in 2025. February came and went with no Direct, but then the rumors started again, pointing to Nintendo hosting a Switch 1-focused Direct at the end of March 2025.

Now Nintendo has confirmed the rumors. The next Nintendo Direct will take place on Thursday, March 27 at 7am PT, and it will feature “around 30 minutes” of upcoming games for the original Nintendo Switch. Nintendo did not specify any of the games that will be shown at the Nintendo Direct on March 27, but it did make sure to clarify that there will be no news on the Nintendo Switch 2 during the event.

When is the Next Nintendo Direct?

There are all kinds of possibilities when it comes to the Nintendo Direct on March 27. It’s possible that Nintendo will use the event to shine a spotlight on Metroid Prime 4, which is set to be one of the last major games for the Switch. It’s also possible that Pokemon Legends: Z-A will be featured at the event, perhaps to clear up some of the Mega Evolution leaks that have been floating around. Insiders have said that Nintendo has at least one more big Switch 1 game in the works, so it’s possible that title will be unveiled at the show.

With this being the last Nintendo Direct until the Switch 2 Direct, it’s possible that some of the long-rumored Switch 1 projects will finally be announced. While fans shouldn’t hold their breath, there have been consistent rumors over the years that Metroid Prime 2 and 3 have Switch ports waiting in the wings, and the same goes for the HD versions of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. It’s possible those projects don’t actually exist, though, and so fans should certainly keep their expectations in check.

Ultimately, the only way to know for sure what the next Nintendo Direct has in store is to tune on March 27 at 7am PT. Those interested in Switch 2 news should mark their calendars for Wednesday, April 2 at 6am PT.
