PSA: Certain Schedule 1 Mods Confirmed To Contain Trojan Malware, So Be Careful What You Download
Be cautious with Schedule 1 mods from Nexus Mods, as two were found to contain malware.

Schedule 1 is 2025’s biggest surprise hit. The drug kingpin simulator has attracted hundreds of thousands of players, dethroning Monster Hunter Wilds, a potential lawsuit, and calls for a console version.
But while the game has blown up, success doesn’t come without its challenges, and players are being warned that certain mods for Schedule 1 have been confirmed to contain dangerous Trojan malware.
Be Careful Which Schedule 1 Mods You’re Downloading, As At Least Two Contain Malware
Schedule 1 is the perfect game to mod. Its low stakes mean nobody gets an unfair advantage, and the possibilities are endless. Players are giving themselves more money, better inventory systems, and even additional late-game quests. Nexus Mods is a treasure trove, but it’s not all sunshine and rainbows.
Over the weekend, a warning went out on the Schedule 1 subreddit, letting players know that if they downloaded the “Increased Stack Size Limit” and/or the “Backpack Mod Reuploaded” mods from creator FroggyP1, it almost certainly contained malware.
Fortunately, the mods have now been removed from Nexus Mods. However, any player who has previously downloaded either mod is highly recommended to uninstall them immediately, change all of their passwords, and run a scan on their whole PC.
It appears that the malicious update to the “Increased Stack Size Limit” mod was added on Friday 11 at 10:29 pm, so if you didn’t update it after that time, you should be okay. Although, it is worth running a scan just to be safe.
These two viruses represent a resurgence of malware making its way into PC games. Over the past two months, two games on Steam have contained viruses — PirateFi and Sniper: Phantom’s Resolution. Both of these games bypassed Steam’s malware checks, much like the two Schedule 1 mods did on Nexus mods.
There’s a level of irony somewhere: a game about committing crimes is trying to harm your PC.
