The Epic Games Store is giving away Botanicula for free on April 17.

The Epic Games Store free game for Thursday, April 17 is Botanicula. Every Thursday at 10am CT, the Epic Games Store gives away its latest freebies while also letting fans know what they can expect from next week’s offerings. However, there was a bit of a hiccup when it came to the latest Epic Games Store update.

When the Epic Games Store updated last Thursday, it gave away free content for Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms and Arcadegeddon, while simultaneously giving away River City Girls for free. It was then revealed that Epic Games Store users would be treated to free content in Firestone Online Idle RPG from April 17 to April 24, but no actual free game was announced for that period. That oversight has since been rectified, and Epic Games Store users now know exactly what free game they will be treated to come Thursday, April 17.

The Epic Games Store free game for Thursday, April 17 is Botanicula, joining the previously-announced free content for Firestone Online Idle RPG. Botanicula is a cute adventure game about tree creatures going on a journey to save the last seed of their home tree. Botanicula was originally released in 2012 and earned mostly positive reviews at the time, but it didn’t make its way to the Epic Games Store until 2023. Regardless, Epic Games Store users will be able to snag the game completely free of charge from April 17 to April 24.

Botanicula will be joined by the Epic Games Store free mobile games, but unlike their PC counterparts, the mobile freebies are not announced in advance. Epic Games Store users will have to stay tuned for more information on the next free mobile game offerings, but in the meantime, they have until April 17 at 10am CT to claim the current freebies. From now until April 17, Epic Games Store on mobile is giving away Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead and the Astarion’s Champions of Renown Pack for Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms for free. The latter is the same freebie that PC gamers currently have access to as well.

Epic Games Store users may not get a heads-up about the next mobile games, but they are usually told a week in advance about the PC free games. So when Botanicula is given away for free on Thursday, April 17, Epic Games Store users will likely find out what the April 24 freebies have in store.
