With Doom: The Dark Ages having officially entered early access, developer id Software is celebrating the occasion with a special developer livestream to distribute free digital goodies for fans. Anyone with a Steam account can grab the rewards, even if they haven’t purchased Doom: The Dark Ages.
As the successor to 2020’s Doom Eternal and prequel to 2016’s Doom reboot, Doom: The Dark Ages is one of the most highly-anticipated games of 2025. Fans of id Software’s brutal, fast-paced shooters are particularly excited to see how Doom: The Dark Ages blends its medieval-inspired setting with the current series canon, as well as the new gameplay mechanics it’ll feature. Doom: The Dark Ages‘ official launch is slated for May 15, while those who bought the game’s early access version can dig in starting today.

To kick off the festivities, id Software is hosting a developer stream centered around Doom: The Dark Ages and open to all. Watching just 10 minutes of the broadcast on Steam is enough to unlock a set of exclusive profile avatars, frames, stickers, etc. These rewards are purely cosmetic and won’t give players any combat edge in Doom: The Dark Ages, but they make for neat collectibles for longtime Doom fans. The only requirement is having a Steam account, so players who purchased Doom: The Dark Ages on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S can still unlock these items as long as they’re logged in to Steam while watching the stream.

As a temporary fix, the stream has been set to loop continuously, giving fans extended time to log in and collect their Doom: The Dark Ages-inspired freebies. The studio is currently working on a solution to the problem, but it recommends ensuring that viewers are logged into Steam before tuning in to avoid any potential issues.
Minor technical issues aside, the bonus content offered through Steam is a small but welcome gesture from id Software, and will likely help draw more attention to Doom: The Dark Ages‘ upcoming launch. The game is already shaping up to be a worthy addition to the Doom series, with reviewers having expressed high praise for Doom: The Dark Ages‘ near-comical levels of violence, new weapon additions (especially the Shield Saw), and excellent gameplay.
