Apple blocked Fortnite’s submission to return to the US App Store.

Fortnite has announced that Apple blocked its submission, which has resulted in it being unable to release on the US App Store or the Epic Games Store for iOS in the European Union. Epic Games was recently forced to delay its major May 15 update to May 16, which many fans believed would result in the return of Fortnite to iOS platforms.

Fortnite is currently in the middle of its Star Wars-themed mini-season titled Galactic Battle. Epic Games has brought back powerful items like lightsabers and even replaced a large portion of the loot pool with blasters from the iconic franchise. Fans have also been treated to new skins of major characters like Emperor Palpatine, Mace Windu, Jar Jar Binks, Generel Grievous, and more.

In a recent post on Twitter, Epic Games revealed that Apple has blocked Fortnite‘s submission to return to the US App Store. Unfortunately for fans, this has caused a widespread ripple effect across the globe, as the popular battle royale is also unable to be released on the Epic Games Store for iOS in the European Union. According to the statement from Epic Games, Fortnite will be unavailable on iOS worldwide until Apple unblocks it. Many fans expressed immense disappointment, as it was recently announced that the title would be returning to the platform in the near future.

Fortnite Is Unavailable on iOS Worldwide

Epic Games has been in a longstanding legal battle since 2020, which resulted in Fortnite‘s removal from iOS devices. After a judge recently ruled against Apple, it was revealed that fans would once again be able to play the title on iOS. Fortnite submitted the game to Apple but didn’t hear back from the company. In an effort to bring the title back to iOS, Epic Games even resubmitted Fortnite to Apple for approval, leading many players to believe that it would return to iOS with the battle royale’s May 16 update. However, things didn’t go as planned, which forced Epic Games to make a statement explaining why the title would be down on iOS devices worldwide.

Things have been tense between the two companies since the lawsuit in 2020. Epic Games even went so far as to release a skin called Tart Tycoon in Fortnite, which poked at Apple. It was recently teased that the cosmetic could be making a return, which surprised and delighted a large portion of the community that missed out on its initial release. Despite a few hiccups between Apple and Epic Games, many players are feeling optimistic about the future of Fortnite.
