Dead Island 2 is free on the Epic Games Store until May 22.

One of the Epic Games Store free games right now is Dead Island 2, a must-have for co-op gamers. Epic Games Store users are treated to new free games on a weekly basis. Generally speaking, most of the Epic Games Store free games are smaller-scale indie titles. However, there are times when the service surprises fans by giving away bigger budget games.
Epic Games Store users that are good about claiming every free game should have a massive library of titles right now, ranging from newer games to retro classics and everything in-between. Epic Games Store users should already have quite a few co-op games, but they should be sure to claim the latest freebie if they need something else to play with their friends.
From now until May 22, Dead Island 2 is free on the Epic Games Store. Dead Island 2 is a 3-player co-op first-person zombie game where players explore a Los Angeles overrun with the undead. Like its predecessor, Dead Island 2 features RPG elements and has players going around completing quests for various rewards. It earned mostly positive reviews from fans and critics, and should make a great addition to one’s library, especially if they are looking for a co-op game to play. Dead Island 2 being free on the Epic Games Store means it should be much easier than usual to get three people together to play through the game in co-op.

There’s even more co-op carnage to enjoy in Dead Island 2 now than there was at launch. Dead Island 2 has received two premium story expansions since its release, adding new areas to explore, new weapons to collect, and new story content to enjoy. The Dead Island 2 story expansions are currently available at a discount ($4.89 for Haus and $6.99 for SoLA), so those that enjoy the base game should definitely consider picking up the DLC packs.
Besides premium content, Dead Island 2 also received some free updates to make the experience better for players. The most notable for co-op fans is the Dead Island 2 Neighbourhood Watch update, which added a horde mode to the mix. So even if one doesn’t opt for the Dead Island 2 story expansions, there is still plenty of co-op content to enjoy completely free of charge through the Epic Games Store.
Dead Island 2 isn’t the only free Epic Games Store game right now. Happy Game is also free on EGS until May 22, at which point both titles will be replaced by a trio of mystery games.
