Fortnite Leak Reveals Upcoming Free Skin

Game Update Games Gaming News Rumors and Leaks

Epic Games may release a free skin in Fortnite, but players will need to earn XP to claim it.

A popular Fortnite leaker has revealed that Epic Games may be releasing a free skin alongside additional cosmetics in the near future. Fortnite is currently in the middle of its Galactic Battle season, which has introduced a wide variety of Star Wars weapons, items, and cosmetics to the game.

Epic Games recently gained a lot of attention when it added an AI version of the character Darth Vader to Fortnite. This NPC differs from others because, once it joins a player’s squad, the person can have fully voiced conversations with Darth Vader. Many fans have been busy asking the NPC all kinds of questions, which has resulted in a lot of clips floating around the community.

In a recent post on Twitter, HYPEX gave players their first look at an upcoming skin and claimed that the cosmetic could be free in Fortnite. The shared image features a young woman with dark skin, pink and black hair, and an opal-colored dress. According to the leaker, the skin will be one of nine free cosmetics, but players won’t be able to claim everything right away. In order to add these new items to one’s locker, gamers will need to earn 60,000 XP for each of the nine cosmetics, which comes to 540,000 XP in total. HYPEX didn’t mention any restrictions on how someone goes about earning XP, which means fans can likely play any of their preferred game modes. The free cosmetics include a back bling, pickaxe, emotes, sprays, and more.

Fortnite Players May Be Able to Earn XP to Claim a Free Skin

While 540,000 XP is certainly significant, it’s less than half of what is currently required to purchase the Darth Jar Jar skin in Fortnite‘s Item Shop, which has upset a large portion of the community. Most cosmetics come to the battle royale’s Item Shop without any kind of restriction. Players simply need to have the correct amount of V-Buck available on their account, and they’re free to purchase anything they wish. However, Epic Games has decided to add a twist with Darth Jar Jar. In order to purchase the character’s cosmetics, players need to reach certain XP goals in order to unlock the skins. The Darth Jar Jar skin itself requires players to earn one million XP to make the purchase.

Epic Games is currently trying to bring Fortnite back to iOS platforms but was recently blocked by Apple. As a result, the popular battle royale is now unavailable on all iOS devices worldwide. There’s currently no estimate as to when Fortnite will return to the platform. Despite a few hiccups here and there, many fans are feeling optimistic about the future of the game.
