The latest update to PS Plus has added nine games to the Extra tier and one game to the Premium tier.

The latest update to the PlayStation Plus subscription service adds nine titles to the Extra tier and one new title to the Premium tier. Every month, Sony releases an update for PlayStation Plus that gives Extra and Premium subscribers new games to play, but unfortunately, the May 2025 lineup has not been all that well-received.
Some fans have said that they are going to cancel their PS Plus subscriptions because of the May 2025 update. More games are leaving PS Plus this month than there are new games being added, and that, along with the fact that Premium is only getting one exclusive game, has rubbed fans the wrong way. After all, the Premium tier of PS Plus is the most expensive tier, yet it seems to be seriously neglected compared to Essential and Extra.
Of course, a PS Plus Premium subscription does get subscribers everything that comes with the lower tiers as well. This means that both PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers are free to try the nine new games added to the Extra tier in May 2025, which includes the likes of Battlefield 5, Humankind, Sand Land, Soul Hackers 2, and STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy among a handful of other games. Premium subscribers also have exclusive access to Battle Engine Aquila, a PS2 mech game that earned mostly positive reviews at the time of its original release.

New PS Plus Premium Game for May 2025
- Battle Engine Aquila – PS4/PS5
Those signed up for PS Plus Extra and Premium will be able to get a lot of playtime out of the new games added in May 2025, but the departures still outweigh them. Heavy hitters like Batman: Arkham Knight, Grand Theft Auto 5, Infamous: Second Son, and the first two Resistance games have all been removed from PlayStation Plus as of the latest update. The fact that Infamous and the Resistance games are owned by Sony has especially left fans scratching their heads, as there doesn’t seem to be any reason to remove them from the PS Plus lineup.
VR gamers have also expressed their disappointment with the latest round of games leaving PS Plus Extra and Premium. Both Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners games have gotten the boot, along with a couple of other well-regarded PlayStation VR2 titles. PlayStation VR2 sales haven’t been the greatest, but those that did roll the dice on buying a headset likely appreciated being able to access games for it through PS Plus Premium, and now they have fewer reasons to stay subscribed. It will definitely be interesting to see if the June 2025 update leaves PlayStation Plus subscribers in a better mood after the rough month that May has been.
