James Gunn and Peter Safran confirmed that DCU characters will be featured in Fortnite as skins.

Fortnite has been home to many blockbuster movie crossovers, and the heads of DC Studios have just confirmed that there will be skins based on the DCU. Characters like Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman have all appeared in Fortnite at one point or another, but most of Epic’s big comic-based events have been centered around DC’s longtime rival Marvel and its own cinematic universe. For example, last year saw Doctor Doom terrorize the Island in a precursor to his upcoming MCU appearance in the aptly titled Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Meanwhile, DC is in the midst of its own big cinematic revamp, courtesy of former Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran. Earlier this week, the two heads of the newly-formed DC Studios repeated past claims that the DCU will have tie-in video games, though there is no word on what this will entail, and any existing projects are said to be years away.
In addition to these standalone DCU games, Gunn and Safran confirmed that DCU characters will appear in Fortnite during a special DC Studios presentation. As reported by ComicBook, Gunn was asked about any future Fortnite/DC collaborations, to which he replied that such crossovers are definitely being planned. Safran added that this is only part of DC’s new gaming strategy and that he and Gunn are currently talking to Epic about which characters they should focus on.
Fortnite Will Have DCU Skins
Neither of DC Studios’ heads gave any specific examples of future DCU Fortnite skins, but this week’s presentation confirmed many projects that would be ripe for a promotion when the time comes. The most obvious one would be this summer’s Superman reboot, which will bring a handful of DC characters to the big screen alongside the Man of Steel himself. Other potential Fortnite crossovers include the recently announced My Adventures With Green Lantern and Starfire animated shows, next year’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and even a planned Teen Titans movie.
Marvel’s Fortnite promotions have proven successful in the past, so it makes sense for DC to follow suit with its own crossover skins for the up-and-coming DCU franchise. The future is filled with possibilities, but it’s clear that James Gunn and Peter Safran are looking to gaming to help bolster their new cinematic universe in new ways, such as possible Fortnite skins of David Corenswet’s Superman and Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane to go with their big-screen debut this summer.
