With 2023 coming to an end, it’s time to look towards the future of Xbox Game Pass, and early 2024 already has a few games fans should be excited for.

2023 has been a pretty wild ride for the video game industry. While it’s seen its fair share of low moments, with hundreds if not thousands of video game developers being laid off across the industry and continued mismanagement from studio higher-ups, it’s also seen some incredible highs, with 2023 offering some of the best games of all time, all within quick succession of one another. But while the industry as a whole has been very turbulent this year, Xbox Game Pass has remained a constant.

Kicking off the year well with a handful of Persona games, GoldenEye 007, and Hi-Fi Rush, Xbox Game Pass began 2023 how it meant to carry on, and while it stumbled a bit with Redfall, it managed to bring things back around in time for the Fall, delivering some of the best months Xbox Game Pass has ever seen. 2023 is now coming to a close, and it’s time to look forward to what 2024 has to offer for Xbox Game Pass, with a handful of games already worth keeping an eye on.

Xbox Game Pass Games Worth Watching in Early 2024

Turnip Boy Robs A Bank Explained

Set to release on January 18, Turnip Boy Robs a Bank is currently the first game coming to Xbox Game Pass in 2024, and it’s a great title to start on. Following on from its 2021 predecessor, Turnip Boy Commits Tax EvasionTurnip Boy Robs a Bank sees the lovable little pixel art veggie attempt to rob the Botanical Bank. Perfect for fans of The Binding of IsaacTurnip Boy Robs a Bank is primarily a top-down pixel art shooter, where players are encouraged to dodge roll through Bullet Hell-like attacks and wait for their perfect moment to counterattack.

As the name suggests, Turnip Boy Robs a Bank will be yet another zany little adventure, one that’s packed to the brim with dark humor and plenty of cutting satire. If Turnip Boy Robs a Bank ends up being even half the game its predecessor was, then it’ll definitely be one worth checking out for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, and a great way to kick off the new year for the service.

Persona 3 Reload Explained

By far the biggest Xbox Game Pass title currently confirmed for early 2024 is Persona 3 Reload. A full remake of the beloved 2006 original, Persona 3 Reload looks to be an incredibly faithful reimagining of the original game’s story, brought to life in the modern day with all the various bells and whistles that fans have come to expect from a new Persona title.

Persona 3 Reload sees players take control of a high school student who just lost both of their parents. While dealing with their loss, the player must join forces with their classmates and battle the Shadows that threaten the world, equipped with their newly manifested Persona. Though there are some major connections between Persona entries, most mainline games have standalone narratives, meaning that Persona 3 Reload is a perfect place for newcomers to hop on. Persona 3 Reload will hit Xbox Game Pass on February 2, 2024.

PlateUp! Explained

Originally set to hit Xbox Game Pass at the end of 2023, PlateUp! is finally coming to Game Pass on February 15, 2024. A game absolutely perfect for fans of OvercookedPlateUp! has already been in Steam Early Access for over a year, and in that time, it’s garnered an “Overwhelmingly Positive” reception. While a good portion of gameplay sees friends try to cook and send out as many meals as possible, what sets PlateUp! apart from Overcooked is its progression system, which sees players continue to expand and upgrade their restaurant over time with the cash they earn.
