5 must-see movies and shows added to Amazon Prime Video this week
The Focus breaks down the five must-see movies and shows added to Amazon Prime Video this week (March 10 – 17).

Getting the most out of your Amazon Prime Video subscription is as essential as the subscription itself, and one of the best ways to make sure you do that is to know what’s being added to the platform. Each week, I’ve been taking a look at what’s being added to the platform’s TV and movies library, compiling a list of what to look out for. As always, there’s a little something for everybody.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 – March 12
Sometimes those guilty pleasure rom coms just hit the spot like nothing else, and a binge of one of the genre’s most enjoyable trilogies wouldn’t be complete without My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3.
Starring Vardalos, John Corbett, Louis Mandylor, Elena Kampouris, and more, the movie is one some of you may not have gotten around to yet as it was only released in late 2023.
The franchise’s third and latest installment reunites fans with the Portokalos family for a big a big reunion they’re having themselves in Greece. Packing lots of drama, laughs, and all-too sweetness, it’s a great one to unwind with after a long day.
Invincible Season 2, Part 2 – March 14
In with a Prime Video Original, Invincible is an adult animated superhero series from creator Robert Kirkman that first came onto screens in 2021.
The show is based on the Image Comics series of the same name and centers on 17-year-old Mark Grayson and his journey to becoming a superhero under the training of his father Omni-Man.
Juggling very human dramatic elements with genre-driven spectacle, it’s a must-see for animation fans with an all-star cast that boasts Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead), Sandra Oh (Killing Eve), and J. K. Simmons (Whiplash). Give it a try or, if you’re already caught up, enjoy the four new episodes!
Frida – March 14
Another Prime Video Original debuting this week is Frida, a unique new documentary directed by Carla Gutierrez that explores the life of the titular Mexican painter Frida Kahlo.
Frida remains one of the most iconic artists, and this new film presents the fascinating angle of having her chronicle and explain her life through her own words, blending the artist’s own words with gorgeous animation and footage. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earning rave reviews, and it’s now at 88% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Whether you have an expert, passing, or even no knowledge of Frida, her life, and her work, you’ll get something from this.
The Captive – March 17
Atom Egoyan is an incredible filmmaker who’s directed two of my personal favorite movies (The Sweet Hereafter, Exotica), and his 2014 Canadian thriller The Captive is a gem you may not have seen.
Starring Ryan Reynolds (yes, that Ryan Reynolds), the movie deals with a father being suspected by officials when his teenage daughter Cassandra goes missing. Eight years later, detectives make a final break in that case that leads them to suspect she’s still alive.
It’s a strange experience that jumps around with time, telling a gripping story with tremendous performances.
Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure Of Foggy Mountain – March 17
For the comedy fans, this week’s big pick is Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure Of Foggy Mountain.
Produced by Judd Apatow, the comedy troupe Please Don’t Destroy (Martin Herlihy, John Higgins, and Ben Marshall) stars as fictional versions of themselves setting out in hopes of finding lost treasure.
It’s a dumb fun movie that reminded me of the Andy Samberg comedy Hot Rod, and if that’s your kind of humor then you’re down for a good time with this one.
