Fallout 76 is seeing a major resurgence in popularity on Xbox according to market researcher Circana, following the premiere of Amazon’s Fallout show.

Following the premiere of Amazon’s anticipated Fallout show, Bethesda’s Fallout 76 is enjoying a substantial resurgence in popularity on Xbox, according to market researcher Circana. Curious Fallout fans who have never taken the plunge into Fallout 76 can currently take advantage of a new offer.

Fallout 76 is free to play on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation until April 18 as part of Amazon and Bethesda’s promotion for the new show. The 2018 multiplayer RPG has a rocky history, although updates over the years have slowly improved the game. A recent Fallout 76 update in late March added a New Jersey boardwalk to the game’s Atlantic City location, new quests, and significant changes to how seasons work. Bethesda is likely hoping that recent improvements along with the attention from Amazon’s high-budget show can help Fallout 76 maintain its newfound popularity.

Circana Executive Director Mat Piscatella shared on Twitter that Fallout 76 is seeing its highest engagement rate on Xbox Series consoles since October 2022. Circana’s engagement rate statistic is measured by the daily percentage of active Xbox Series users playing the game. Fallout 76 is seeing improved numbers on Steam as well, hitting its highest peak since January of this year. After the free-to-play period ends on April 18, PC or Xbox players who are Amazon Prime subscribers can continue playing Fallout 76 for free by claiming this month’s Prime Gaming offers. Currently, Prime Gaming members can also play Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition and Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition at no extra cost by using Amazon’s Luna cloud gaming service.

Fans will soon have a reason to return to Fallout 4 as well thanks to a major update coming in late April that adds native support for the Xbox Series and PS5 consoles. The update introduces 60 FPS, upgraded resolution, and bug fixes for Bethesda’s last flagship Fallout game. The same update sees PC users receive widescreen and ultra-widescreen support along with more bug fixes.

It’s a good time to be a Fallout fan, as Amazon’s show brings new content to Fallout Shelter, too. The substantial update, which is available now, adds new quests, locations, vault dwellers, and more to Bethesda’s mobile title.

Is The Elder Scrolls Getting a TV Show Too?

The Fallout show’s initial success has led some fans to wonder whether The Elder Scrolls could receive a small-screen adaptation as well. However, Bethesda Director Todd Howard recently confirmed that there are currently no plans for this to take place, explaining that the project’s studio and production team have to be the perfect fit for Bethesda like it apparently was with Amazon’s show.
