Borderlands 4 Release Date Moves Forward To Sept 12
Borderlands 4’s release date has been pushed forward by two weeks.

Borderlands 4‘s release date has changed. Now, the sequel will launch on September 12, 2025, moving forward two weeks from its initial release date.
This was just announced by Randy Pitchford himself. In a short message to fans, he says that development is going very well, allowing the team to push the game forward by two weeks, making it a rare example of a release date changing and it not being because of a delay.
In the video, Pitchford also mentioned a Borderlands 4-themed State of Play. This has now been announced by Sony and will take place tomorrow.
Borderlands 4’s Release Date Has Been Moved Forward
“The team has been working very hard, and everything is going great, actually,” says Pitchfored. “In fact, everything is going kind of the best-case scenario. The game is awesome. The team is cooking. And so the launch date for Borderlands 4 is changing. We’re moving it forward. The launch date is now September 12.”
On top of that, Pitchford says that we’ll see more of Borderlands 4 at a PlayStation State of Play. Sony has since confirmed that this will take place tomorrow at 5pm ET.
Of course, some are already speculating that this change of release data could have something to do with the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6. This would make sense, since Gearbox falls under the Take-Two umbrella alongside Rockstar, so the publisher might be looking to spread its big 2025 releases out a bit more. We don’t have a specific GTA 6 release date just yet, but right now, it’s supposed to be out later this year.
In any case, we’ll see more of the game tomorrow, and be playing it in a few months’ time. Borderlands 4 will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
