Hardcore Exploration Game ‘Hell is Us’ Launches Limited-Time Steam Demo
Hell is Us launched a PC-only playable demo via Steam.

Rogue Factor’s sci-fi action-adventure Hell is Us received a playable PC demo, now available exclusively on Steam. The trial version of the game will only be accessible until mid-June 2025, giving prospective players a limited window of opportunity to take Hell is Us for a spin.
Set in the fictional country of Hadea, Rogue Factor‘s upcoming title follows Rémi, a former United Nations peacekeeper who returns to his homeland in search of his origins. The narrative unfolds amid a civil war and a mysterious calamity that has unleashed supernatural entities known as Hollow Walkers, rendering the gritty world of Hell is Us even more hostile. Players navigate a semi-open world without traditional aids such as maps or quest markers, relying instead on environmental cues and character interactions to progress.
With Hell is Us‘ September 2025 release date being just three months away, Rogue Factor and publisher Nacon have treated the game to its very first public demo, which rolled out via Steam on Monday, June 2. The trial version of the game will be available for exactly two weeks, until June 16.
Hell is Us Demo Arrives Just in Time for Steam Next Fest
This interactive preview of Hell is Us arrives just in time for the June 2025 edition of Steam Next Fest, Valve’s triannual event spotlighting upcoming video games through demos. The second Steam Next Fest of the year is set to begin on Monday, June 9, and will run through June 16. Nacon and Rogue Factor have confirmed that the Hell is Us demo will be featured at the showcase, offering potential buyers a closer look at what to expect from the the gritty open-world action adventure.
Deus Ex art director Jonathan Jacques-Belletête is leading the development of Hell is Us as its creative director. Prior to joining Rogue Factor, Jacques-Belletête spent 12 years at Eidos Montreal, working on Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Mankind Divided, and Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy, among several other titles. For his next project, the industry veteran set out to create an immersive experience that encourages players to explore and uncover mysteries without much in the way of guidance. This design philosophy behind Hell is Us stands in stark contrast to the long-running trend in game development of streamlining open-world games to the point of hand-holding, often replacing exploration with extensive checklists of objectives.
Hell is Us is scheduled for release on September 4. While its newly launched demo is PC-only, the sci-fi action adventure will also be arriving on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on day one.
