Fortnite is launching its Party Up: Celestial Strike event on May 23 with free cosmetics.
Fortnite has announced that it will be launching a new event called Party Up: Celestial Strike on May 23, which will give players the opportunity to earn a wide variety of cosmetics for free. Epic Games recently released Fortnite‘s first Star Wars mini-season, which introduced an AI version of the iconic character Darth Vader to the popular battle royale.
This new version of Darth Vader comes with an interesting twist, as players can have full conversations with the bot. After finding and defeating Darth Vader in combat, the Sith Lord will join a player’s squad, at which point gamers will be able to talk with the NPC through voice chat. Darth Vader will often address players by the name of the skin they’re currently using, though it’s possible for the player to request the character call them by a different name. Shortly after being released, SAG-AFTRA issued a lawsuit against Fortnite for its use of AI, as the bot is not voiced by a living actor.

In a recent post on Twitter, Epic Games revealed that players will be able to earn free cosmetics as part of Fortnite‘s upcoming Party Up: Celestial Strike event, which begins on May 23 at 9 AM ET. Fortnite shared more details on its website, stating that the event will end on June 7 at 2:30 PM ET. During this time, gamers will have the opportunity to earn a wide variety of cosmetics, including a pickaxe, spray, back bling, the Iridia Vayne outfit, and more. In order to claim these items, players will first need to party up with friends in Fortnite.

According to the website, a new Party Up: Celestial Strike quest will appear every day from May 23 through May 31. The quests will alternate between earning a certain amount of XP in creator-made experiences while in a party with friends and earning a certain amount of XP in Epic-published experiences while in a party with friends. Fortnite offers a wide variety of creative maps created by players, which will likely allow fans to complete the quests fairly quickly. Experiences published by Epic are usually clearly marked and include modes like Ballistic, Zero Build, LEGO Odyssey, Reload, and more.
Fortnite will also be launching a major Mandalorian Rising update on May 22, which will bring the fan-favorite Star Wars warriors to the island. In addition to releasing a fully customizable Mandalorian skin, gamers will be able to play with the unvaulated Mandalorian Jetpack and a couple of new weapons. With so much content to enjoy and even more on the way, many fans are feeling optimistic about the future of Fortnite.
