Bungie teases The Edge of Fate for Destiny 2 alongside a livestream event.

Bungie finally gives Destiny 2 players a glimpse at what’s coming over the next year, revealing a special livestream event to reveal The Edge of Fate. With Marathon taking the spotlight, there has been a bit of uncertainty for Destiny 2 players following the end of the Episode Heresy story and still no concrete information on what’s coming next.
Following the launch of The Final Shape last year, Bungie announced changes to how it planned to deliver content, switching from Seasons to Episodes, while also announcing the future of Destiny 2 as Codename: Frontiers. Fans have been eager to know specifics regarding what’s next for Destiny 2 as the episodic content has now come to a close and, outside the upcoming Rites of the Nine activity, the schedule has remained a bit mysterious. Thankfully, all of that is about to change starting in May.
While Bungie revealed bits and pieces of Codename: Frontiers over the past few months, Destiny 2 fans are finally getting a major look at the future of the game. In a new social media post, Bungie confirmed that on May 6, 2025, the studio is holding a special livestream to reveal what’s coming to Destiny 2 over the next year. Based on the announcement, it also appears that the next expansion will be going by the name of The Edge of Fate.
Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate Livestream Reveal Date
- May 6, 2025
Unfortunately, there were no other details or information shared about the upcoming reveal, though perhaps Bungie is saving that for the weekly blog post published on Thursday. Either way, it appears that the former Codename Apollo expansion is now officially known as The Edge of Fate. Based on Bungie’s previous Destiny 2 roadmap tease, the expansion will be launching sometime this summer with two major updates and reward passes included during its lifecycle.
Speculation continues to revolve around the idea that the Destiny series could be leaving the current Solar System it has called home for over 10 years between both games. Rumors have attempted to fill in the information gaps a bit, indicating Destiny 2’s upcoming expansions would be smaller in scope with highly replayable activities, though the small details that have come out seem to tease new story adventures. In fact, Destiny 2‘s Assistant Game Director, Robbie Stevens, previously indicated that Bungie wants to get back to “expanding our worlds and world-building, expanding the universe of Destiny in general.” With a comment like that, fans have speculated that upcoming expansions could finally be taking players to new areas, such as the old Eliksni homeworld of Riis.
