Stores in Japan are starting to roll out their Nintendo Switch 2 display setups with just a few weeks remaining until the console’s launch.

Nintendo fans are already starting to spot Nintendo Switch 2 games hitting store shelves in Japan, with multiple games and display setups starting to appear in retail shops. With less than a month remaining until the release of the Switch 2, hype for the console has hit a fever pitch for both the developer and its legions of fans. Nintendo has revealed plenty of exciting games coming to the Switch 2 in the months following its debut, with Mario Kart World serving as its big launch title. Now, fans are starting to spot Nintendo Switch 2 games in stores.
Nintendo has given fans lots to look forward to from the Switch 2 following its launch, with many of its most beloved franchises seeing new games on the console. Nintendo’s reveal trailer for the Switch 2 has already revealed new entries in fan-favorite series like Kirby, Donkey Kong, and Metroid among many others. The Switch 2 also looks to have a stacked lineup of third-party games on the way from developers like FromSoftware, Gearbox, and Square-Enix. Some stores are now already getting their Switch 2 setups ready for the console’s release.
A recent post to the official Switch 2 subreddit shares the discovery of some early Switch 2 setups in a Japanese retail store. The Switch 2 section features Nintendo’s modern red color scheme splashed around the displays, with several games like the Switch 2 version of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Mario Kart World on display. The setup also includes spaces for several accessories launching with the Switch 2, including the Nintendo Switch 2 Racing Wheel and the Switch 2 Camera among others.
Switch 2 Display Setups are Starting to Appear in Stores
The early Switch 2 displays hitting stores come as Nintendo fans won’t have to wait much longer to get their hands on the console. The console is officially set to launch in less than three weeks on June 5, with pre-orders for the console quickly selling out through Nintendo’s official website. Many retailers have already started to reveal their release plans for the Switch 2, with GameStop hosting a midnight release and giving bonus credit for trade-ins put towards Switch 2 games and accessories.
Nintendo has set up the Switch 2 to have a strong lineup of software on launch, with even more coming to the console after its official release. The developer will launch Donkey Kong Bananza as a new 3D platformer for the Switch 2 just over a month after the console’s launch, standing as the franchise’s first 3D platformer since Donkey Kong 64. Nintendo also confirmed Kirby Air Riders for a 2025 release, alongside enhanced Switch 2 versions of upcoming titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Fans won’t have to wait much longer to get their hands on Nintendo’s next major console.
