Marvel Rivals Confirms Massive Season 2.5 Update Size

The next big Marvel Rivals update is coming on May 30, and insiders say that it is going to take up a great deal of storage space and will likely require players to re-download most of the game. The second season of Marvel Rivals kicked off on April 11 and was centered around the Hellfire Gala on the mutant island of Krakoa. The powerful mutant leader Emma Frost was introduced as a Vanguard character, and numerous other characters received new skins themed after the big mutant party.

The fun times aren’t going to last much longer, as Marvel Rivals’ next update is adding the evil Ultron as a Strategist out to crash the party with his drone army. Characters like Hawkeye and Groot are also getting new skins as part of the Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 update on May 30, which is also introducing a new map set in Krakoa’s neighboring island of Arakko along with multiple character and gameplay tweaks.

All of this content will require a great deal of storage space, as a leaker group by the handle of X0X_LEAK (via VideoGamer) says that the upcoming Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 update patch is roughly 59.6 GB. This will bring Marvel Rivals’ overall file size to around 73.7 GB, and X0X_LEAK says that much of this new patch will override and reinstall existing game files.

This is nothing new for Marvel Rivals, as the previous Marvel Rivals Season 2 update had a download size of 49.1 GB and also rewrote a considerable portion of the game’s existing files to account for Emma Frost and the new Krokoa map. This naturally drew concerns from players with less storage space or limited internet bandwidth, as they reportedly had problems downloading the new update. Some have even pointed out that full games like Elden Ring are only slightly bigger than the forthcoming Marvel Rivals patch, even with all of its previously released DLC.

Others have remained excited about the new features introduced in Marvel Rivals Season 2, and this latest update retains that hype thanks to the impending arrival of Ultron and the new gameplay tweaks.
