Nintendo Shares Final Switch 2 Price and Pre-Order Date for the U.S
Nintendo Switch 2 U.S. pre-orders will start on April 24, 15 days later than initially planned.

The Switch 2 U.S. pre-orders will open on April 24 at the originally announced $449.99 price, Nintendo has confirmed. However, most Switch 2 accessories are going to be more expensive than initially announced.
The first batch of official Switch 2 accessories was unveiled during the April 2 Nintendo Direct focused on the upcoming console. Two days later, Nintendo delayed the start of Switch 2 pre-orders in the U.S.—which were initially planned to start on April 9—in order to assess the impact of the Trump administration’s all-encompassing import tariffs.
The company completed its assessment by April 18, when it announced that the Switch 2 U.S. pre-orders will start next Thursday, April 24. The console will retail at its originally announced price of $449.99. However, almost all official Switch 2 accessories will be more expensive than initially announced.

The Switch 2 AC Adapter is being treated to a similar, 16% price hike, bringing its price to $34.99. More Nintendo Switch 2 Price Hikes Are Possible
Nintendo cited “changes in market conditions” as the primary reason for the pre-release price hikes. “Other adjustments to the price of any Nintendo product are also possible in the future depending on market conditions,” the company said in a prepared statement. The next potential shift in circumstances could occur on July 9, when the Trump administration’s 90-day pause on all “reciprocal” tariffs is set to expire. The ongoing trade war between the U.S. and China doesn’t increase the chances of the Switch 2 price staying put, as a large portion of Nintendo’s manufacturing operations is based out of China. While the company also has factories in Vietnam, reports suggest they aren’t numerous enough to service the entirety of the North American market.

The pre-order delay will not affect the Switch 2 U.S. release, which is still scheduled for June 5. The console will hit the market alongside more than 20 launch titles, including Mario Kart World, Deltarune, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and Cyberpunk 2077.
