Epic Games recently teased that a major Fortnite announcement would be happening at Star Wars Celebration Japan, which only fueled existing rumors that the battle royale might be launching a full crossover season with the popular franchise. According to leakers, the collaboration could feature skins of characters like Rebellion Era Leia and the Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn. However, fans were still kept in the dark about just how deep the collaboration would go.
In a recent live stream from Star Wars Celebration Japan, Epic Games revealed a new teaser trailer showing off snippets of what players can expect to see when Fortnite‘s Galactic Battle launches on May 2. The trailer revealed new skins of iconic characters like Mace Windu, Emperor Palpatine, and Darth Jar Jar. Ahmed Best, the actor known for portraying Jar Jar Binks in the films, then came on stage to share more details about the upcoming season. He confirmed that X-Wings and Tie Fighters will be heading to the island, and gamers will have the ability to squad up and take control of these vehicles during a match. He also announced that players would be able to make use of Force Lightning within the game as well.
Fortnite’s Galactic Battle Season Launches May 2
The new season will feature a full Star Wars battle pass, which is expected to bring a wide variety of new cosmetics to the title.
