Xbox insider Jez Corden predicts the upcoming Xbox Showcase may feature Final Fantasy 16, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

A recent report hints that three major Final Fantasy games will soon be announced for Xbox. The Final Fantasy franchise has traditionally been aligned with PlayStation platforms, especially in recent years, with major entries like Final Fantasy 16 and the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series skipping Xbox entirely. As Xbox continues to push its multi-platform strategy, that may finally be changing.
As Square Enix is a Japanese publisher, it’s no surprise that it would have closer ties to Sony and give it priority when it comes to its biggest IP. This has historically been the case, with the Final Fantasy franchise being synonymous with PlayStation since the original PlayStation console. The first Final Fantasy game to launch on the PS1 was Final Fantasy 7, and Sony has held exclusive rights to most of the Final Fantasy titles since. Even so, that hasn’t stopped rumors about a PS5-exclusive Final Fantasy game coming to Xbox from floating around since early 2025.
In a recent article, Xbox insider Jez Corden laid out his expectations for the upcoming Xbox Showcase on June 8. The article outlines several confident predictions for the show, notably suggesting that Final Fantasy 16, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth could be arriving on Xbox very soon. Although this isn’t confirmation, Corden has a strong track record with Xbox news, and enough time has passed that this wouldn’t be all that surprising.
Final Fantasy Games May be Heading to Xbox
All three major titles have seen PC releases not long after their initial launch on PlayStation consoles. Even the Nintendo Switch 2 is confirmed to be getting Final Fantasy 7 Remake before any word on an Xbox release. With Xbox leaning so heavily into its Game Pass subscription, players may even see all three titles drop on the service at the same time.
If this rumor turns out to be true, the final installment in the remake trilogy may be released simultaneously across all three major platforms, something that could certainly help boost sales. It’s possible that, given Square Enix‘s recent multi-platform shift, whatever exclusivity deal was in place for the Final Fantasy franchise might finally be coming to an end. That would be good timing for Xbox, especially with Square Enix recently hinting that a Final Fantasy 9 remake is in the works. Xbox fans might be in for a treat if the franchise is truly making its return, and they’ve certainly waited long enough.
